About

Digital Society Lab at the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory, University of Belgrade explores the impact of information and communication technologies on society, politics, economy, industry, culture, and art practices, examining how the processes of ubiquitous digitalization affect and transform all aspects of our lives on both the individual and collective level.

The Lab provides stimulating research in a highly interdisciplinary setting. It attracts researchers from diverse fields of study, including sociology, philosophy, political science, cultural studies, critical theory, art theory, new media, and communication studies. The researchers collaborate closely to tackle various socio-technological questions of our increasingly data-driven world. These include analysis and comparison between social media groups and their psychometric parameters, data science, big data, data mining, and fake news. We explore the topics of echo chambers, polarization, online addiction, digital citizens, privacy, digital governance, the digital divide, and democratic processes, and, additionally, inquire into topics of embodiment, identity, agency, and cognition in digital and immersive environments, digital arts and culture, and social and cultural impact of AI.
